Salman Khan’s hit and run trial begins March 26th
Bollywood star Salman Khan’s classic case of hit and run in 2002 will see a fresh trial in the Mumbai sessions court on March 26th, 2014. As many as 17 witnesses will be examined and cross examined once again, where Salman had been charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder, but causing death by negligence. The framing can sentence Khan for a jail term of upto 10 years, once proved guilty, while the charges of rash and negligent driving an imprisonment of two years.
The actor earlier moved sessions court last year seeking a fresh trial in the case, citing that he was not given an opportunity in the magistrate’s court to cross examine witnesses in the charge of culpable homicide.
On September 28, 2002, Salman Khan allegedly drove his Toyota Lexus SUV over a group of people sleeping on a pavement outside a bakery in Bandra, injuring four and killing one.
