Sholay 3D to be screened at IFFM Festival
The 1975 hit blockbuster directed by Ramesh Sippy, Sholay, will
be screened in its 3 D version in Australia at Indian Film Festival of
Melbourne (IFFM). The film will be screened on May 1st the presence of
megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who will also officially inaugurate the 11
day long festivities marking the Bollywood extravaganza. Bachchan, 71,
will also be felicitated and honoured on the occasion.
That’s not all. Amitabh will be awarded by the Victorian Government and he will give away a scholarship names after him to an Indian Student there.
Amitabh played the iconic role of ‘Jai’ in the film, which made a lasting impression on the minds of audience along with his equally celebrated co-star Dharmendra, for his role as ‘Veeru’. Sholay depicts a whole new landmark in Indian Cinema, bringing in the new era of film making. All the characters in the film are immortal and have been epitomised as ‘Sholay Characters’.
Another everlasting character was ‘Gabbar Singh’ played by late Amzad Khan. The tales of Gabbar Singh will never be forgotten on the tell-tale marquee of Indian films.
Basanti, portrayed by evergreen actress Hema Malini, carried its own charms too. This and more, Sholay stands tall and class apart for generations to come!
