Analysis
Story, Screenplay, Direction:
Geethanjali
commits suicide in beginning of movie turns into a ghost. Srinivas
Reddy and batch lands in the flat. Anjali visits the flat everyday
becoming a good friend. First half runs smoothly with Srinivas Reddy,
Satyam Rajesh and Shakalaka Shankar comedy. Story turns serious and
interesting when two back to back twists are revealed- Anjali was dead
few months ago and it was not a film story but a real life experience of
Srinivas Reddy.
We
have few doubts post first half: What is the need of Srinu batch
staying in the same flat even after knowing about the ghost? Actually
Kona's screenplay is bluffing with cremation ground shown before every
single night episode.
Second
half reveals who is Anjali and reasons for her death. Anjali was a
classical dancer and a software engineer in profession leading happy
life with family. She also had a boyfriend (Harshavardhan Rane). But
things change with a birthday party of her boss.
Actual
reason for Anjali coming everyday to the same flat is silly. There is
no content to drive the story in second half when the flashback was
revealed. This showed Kona's inconsitency in story expansion and
scripting drawbacks.
With
first half, you may conclude to an extent that Kona Venkat mark regular
screenplay and fictious ‘dream’ comedy is not a part of Geethanjali.
You are absolutely wrong. He is back to his scrap novelty in second
half. Movie turns boring since the very start of second half and Brahmanandam’s comedy is atrocious.
Debutant
director Raj Kiran dealt first half quite effectively like an
experienced filmmaker. He handled horror as well as comedy sequences
decisively. Second hald is totally diverse to first half in all
departments screenplay, entertainment and making standards. Sequences of
Brahmanandam training Anjali are tough to bear.
They should have opted an irrational and new flashback episode with a reasonable climax.
Sai
Sri Ram’s Cinematography is remarkable. Songs are good disturbing the
flow. In fact, songs are of less priority for a horror-thriller genre.
Background score is best. Editing is neat. Graphical work in climax was
good and DI was effective through out. Production values are worth a
special mention.
Artists Performance:
Anjali:
She looked odd with plump figure full of tyres. Performance wise, she
is good especially in climax. Anjali appeared pretty in flashback
scenes.
Srinivas Reddy: He got meaty role and performed it with perfection. He is a comedy piece, its better for him stop trying the lead actor roles.
The handsome hunk Harshavardhan Rane played his bit in a brief role. Rao Ramesh is not so impressing as a cruel villain and his character design wasn’t compelling.
Shakalaka Shankar is a big asset. He is not just imitating Ram Gopal Varma; he is providing laughs speaking dialogues in typical Srikakulam slang. He will have great career in industry. Satyam Rajesh is also witty. Brahmanandam and Sapthagiri were wasted totally.

Movie Punchline (Movie Talk): Worth a Watch Once
