Dhoom (2004)
Come 2004 and came the era of bikes, bikes and more cool bikes on screen. Dhoom was the first of its kind film on Bollywood marquee where the story was as scintillating as the cast. While John Abraham dazzled playing a petty thief who loots crores in style, Abhishek Bachchan played ACP Jai Dixit, the most celebrated cop role in the recent times, which continued into all the parts of Dhoom series till date. This cop chases the goons and winds them up in style. Villains change, but Jai Dixit remains!
This was the beginning of those times when Abhi baby began to become an instant favorite of the renowned filmmaker Mani Ratnam. Yuva was the film that just started off their working vibes as actor – director. Abhishek played Lallan Singh, a local goon unmindful of social issues but just gets dragged into the movement. The role required a certain way to it, with actor having to both underplay yet out perform on screen. What can we say, Abhishek never disappointed. He rose at par with his peer Ajay Devgan in the film.
The ambitious Rakesh Trivedi aka Bunty hailing from small town who starts embezzling along with a like minded smart girl accomplice was well applauded. Abhishek played the protagonist while Rani Mukherji played Babli, a girl with dreams in her eyes to become a heroine. The smart and sexy combination of Abhishek and Rani was more than noticed and some even contemplated a real life affair!

Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna (2006)
From action and fun to serious – KANK, a controversial film on extra marital affairs that raked in recognition overseas, Abhishek played Rishi Talwar, a husband trapped in a loveless marriage with his wife who tries hard to make things work but fails as she loves someone else. His role easily fetched sympathy, as the woman was to be blamed, predictably. With SRK calling the shots with a meaty role, Abhishek made his presence equally felt, despite all odds.
Guru (2007)
Perhaps one of the best performed in his list, Abhishek’s role as Gurukant Desai was heavily applauded. This Mani Ratnam directorial was based on the real life story of business magnate late Dhirubhai Ambani, the character which was well played by Abhishek. He showed his critics that Junior Bachchan had indeed grown up to create a niche of his own, when it came to performing the best. He was also nominated Best Actor Filmfare that year for the role.
