Happy 50th Birthday to Sridevi

Happy 50th Birthday to Sridevi
Our pens were delighted…
Our papers were honored…
And our writer was overwhelmed…
That’s very obvious… because they were writing about the celestial beauty of the planet – our very own Sridevi (Kapoor)
Even the most superlative adjectives feel inferior if you ask them to describe Sridevi’s beauty. They only say that she’s some kind of elite angel descended onto this godforsaken planet just to show what a real ‘beauty’ looks like. They only throw the ball into our court to wonder if she’s the one who could thaw out an eccentric cave heart like RGV! “Asalu bhoolokam ilanti siri chusi untada… Kanuka ee chitram swarganiki chendi untada…” Yes RGV was double right!

The big shout “Lights… Camera… Action” would have meant nothing to baby Sridevi when she was shooting for her first filmy debut Kandan Karunai (1967) at an age of mere 4yrs- She enacted ‘Lord Murugan’ in the film. She blessed the industry right away! We are grateful to the Kannada writer who spotted and introduced her for us. Eventually even Kerala State Award for Best Child Artist bowed at her feet with her performance in Poombatta (1970). Her mother Rajeswari [hailing from Tirupathi, AP] was elated to see her kid onscreen and obviously she was the encouraging tone in the house. And her father Ayyappan [hailing from Sivakasi, Tamil Nadu] saw that she didn’t miss the alphabets and picked up some values in her life.

At a very tender age of 17yrs, she was dancing with South Superstars like NTR, ANR, Rajnikanth, Kamal Haasan and the industry found a new Superstar. Apart from just making an appearance, she turned out to be the matinee idol on par with her male counterparts. She was a unanimous choice for the makers all over India irrespective of the ‘woods’. She was glamorous, beautiful, adorable and endearing – certainly an envious material! How can anyone be so good sorry awesome at everything? And that’s why she is an angel. We couldn’t excuse ourselves if we don’t mention some of her masterpieces like Padaharella Vayasu, Vasantha Maaligai, Moodram Pirai, Aakali Rajyam, Kartheeka Deepam, Vetagadu, Premabhishekam, Jagadeka veerudu Athiloka sundari, KshanaKshanam, Lamhe, Mr. India, Chalbaaz, Khuda Gawah [Excuse us about not mentioning the rest as the list wouldn’t end now] immortalizing every odd character offered to her. She had almost the entire nation gone berserk about her and we can only say she has redefined the term ‘Superstar’ for us! Why us, ask CNN IBN – Even it cries out the same. Sridevi was voted 'India's Greatest Actress of All Time' in recent poll (2013). Three State Awards, Five Filmfare Awards, a ‘Padma Shri’ and countless other awards – nothing has made her feel buoyant. She only grew more humble, rooted and modest. Her smile knows no artificiality and attitude except fragrance.
She is 50 now [Wish we were joking. Ahem RGV!] but she turns it down so effortlessly. Have you gone through her latest photoshoot?! Our goodness! Aging concept is aging out before Sridevi and believe us, we are still unable to figure out the mom and the daughter with young Jhanvi beside her. We are glad that she has made a comeback with her recent English Vinglish.
May our dreamgirl Sridevi grow back in age with passing years as we always love to be madly in love with this angel…
