Beginning his career as Camera Assistant to veteran director Ram Gopal Varma, Krishna Vamshi’s first directorial venture was Gulabi. This film which starred J.D.Chakravarthy and Maheswari in the lead rocked the youth of the 90s era. Let it be for the wonderful songs, or fresh portrayal of characters in the film, or the hard hitting realities shown in breathtaking manner- the debut film of Krishna Vamshi was a huge winner! One can never forget the racy Meghalalo Thelipommanadhi shot on the roads of Araku Valley and the melodious Ee Velalo Neevu from this film.

After a heavy subject like Gulabi, Krishna Vamshi took a light hearted love story as his subject next. With Nagarjuna and Tabu in the lead, it was the amazing love story Ninne Pelladatha. Every Telugu person could relate to the film for the brilliant family bonding it showed, and the freshness of characters continued!  It fetched him Filmfare award for the best director as well. Incidentally, it got the national award for the best feature film in Telugu.  He enthralled the audience with a naxalism subject next- with Sindhooram. Ravi Teja got the right break as an actor with good potential through this film.  Not surprisingly, the film got him Nandi Award this time for the best director!

His career reached its pinnacle with Antahpuram starring Soundarya, Saikumar and Jagapathi Babu in the lead. Till then no director showed the issue or Rayalaseema area and the violence happening there with such hard hitting reality. One can never forget the effervescent and sympathetic character of Jagapathi Babu in this film. Krishna Vamshi always surprised the audience with an amazing skill of showing hard hitting realities as well as delicate family relationships with equal brilliance.

One of the best aspects of Krishna Vamshi’s films is the incredible reality shown in them. He understands the character through a journey and every emotion the character faces throughout the film impacts the theme. The versatile director continued to amaze the audience with films like Murari, Khadgam, Chandamama and Sasirekha Pariyanam as well which earned some good name in Telugu Film World.
