Rajni Fans for Modi!
That’s right! Superstar Rajnikanth’s fanclub in Chennai have
announced formally that they will be supporting the BJP in the upcoming
single phase elections in Tamil Nadu on the 24th!
This decision, of course, has to do with the visit of BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi to Rajni’s house on April 13th. Though the superstar denied any political overtones to the visit and said that he had invited Modi over for tea as a friendly gesture of hospitality and friendship, the message, it seems was clear to Rajni fans everywhere. The photos of the two shaking hands made quite an impact on the immense fan community of the Endhiran star.
Modi is running a strong campaign in the south, especially in Tamil Nadu where the BJP does not have a strong base. In addition to Rajni, he also met with Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay, verifying the known fact that in the south, where movies are a religion, the way to people’s hearts is through their beloved stars. Modi has also received support from several Tollywood stars.
Cardboard cut outs and banners of Modi can already be seen in Chennai, no small thanks to Rajni fans.
Rajni himself had initially expressed his wishes to enter politics but has stayed away from it so far, except for making his opinions known on relevant issues. The superstar is currently preparing for the release of his new movie, the 3d animated epic Kochadaiiyaan, which has been directed by his daughter Soundarya Ashwin and has been receiving a lot of buzz and some mixed reviews since releasing its teaser trailers.
