The event was organized by the Indo – American Arts Council.

An elated Geethu mentioned proudly that her creation had been selected for more than 50 international film festivals so far, including the Sofia International Film Festival in Bulgaria where she bagged the Best Film award again.

Interestingly, this acclaimed movie was initially funded by a grant she received as part of the recognition for her earlier film Kelkkundo (2008) which came up to only around Rs. 8.5 lacs, though later it was produced by Geethu’s own company Unplugged and Jar Films.
The story depicts the journey of a simple woman Kamala (Geethanjali) and her daughter Manya from their village in Himachal Pradesh, near the Indo Tibetan border, to Delhi via Shimla on a search to find her missing husband who migrated to Delhi for work. On the way, she finds a companion who helps her, in the form of an army deserter played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
The movie shows the real and raw world and troubles of migrant workers and their relatively harsh lives that stay in anonymity from the rest of the world.
