This Week's Trade Talk: Wobbly Releases

This week saw the release of three small films – one is SV Krishna Reddy’s Yamaleela 2 which released amidst very high expectations.
Since Yamaleela was a huge hit and since a lot of money was spent on the film along with the presence of Mohan Babu and Brahmanandam, the film had to meet high expectations.
But it has to be said that it failed to meet the expectations and the openings were very weak.
In fact, the film’s producers released the film in Andhra and Telangana through various distribution networks. So, the film did not have theatre problems. But a new hero and SV Krishna Reddy being reckoned as a family director did not help to bring audiences to the theatres.
The second release this week is Rough. The film released after facing a lot of problems, but the opening was decent. Rakul Preet Singh’s popularity among the youth and Aadi’s presence did give it a good opening. But the movie is not up to the mark and the collections are expected to fall drastically from Monday.
The third release is Ala Ela. Directed by new director Aneesh Krishna, the film got good talk thanks to his assessment of what the youth wants. But when compared to Ala Ela, the film managed only 30 per cent of the openings. However, since it has been a ‘cool’ film, it might just work in favour of the film from Monday.
Well, a lot more films released this Friday, but no one including those from the industry are aware of them.
