Mammootty Might Make ‘History’ Again
The movie ‘Pazhassi Raja’ was one of the most epic and big
budget productions in Mollywood history and Megastar Mammotty brought
the role of the ‘Lion of Kerala’ – Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja – the king
who fought the East India Company and transcended through a glorious
death in battle, to life. The film set many records and rightfully so.
Performances by other actors including Kollywood star Sharath Kumar also
did not go unnoticed.
Now, it seems, the actor might do it again as ‘Cheraman Perumal’ – the last Chera King who embraced Islam and was instrumental in spreading it in the Malabar regions. The Indians are said to have had trade links with the Arabs since the first century A.D.
Mammootty, who was recently at the Muscat Film Festival, is said to have been approached with the project. The actor also claims that talks are underway with the Oman Film Society and its Chairman, Dr. Khalid Al Zedjali, quotes the news papers.
Mammotty’s latest release ‘Praise the Lord’ has only received moderate success at the box office while his next big one – ‘Gangster’, where he plays Akbar Ali Khan, the don, and is said to appear in five distinct looks throughout the flick, comes out on April 11th.
