Caroline Bech now a Mammootty fan!

Caroline Bech is the lead actress in the upcoming Mammootty flick Manglish directed by Salaam Bappu. The gorgeous Dutch actress has her roots in the theatre and didn’t know much about the Malayalam film industry when she was invited over to be in the project.

Salaam, apparently, sent her web links and videos to familiarize herself with the industry and especially the megastar himself. Caroline admits, “The more I looked in to Mammootty and about his career the more I respected him. I was thrilled to know that I would be working with an actor who managed to grab the Indian national award for acting more than once. It was after watching the movie Ambedkar, however, that I made up my mind to join the film.”

The talented actress has been in Kochi for over month now shooting the flick. She plays a tourist whose interactions with Mammootty’s character, who is a wholesale fish merchant ignorant but passionate about the English language, leads to hilarious outcomes and an unlikely friendship that forms the crux of the plot.

It is worth noting that Caroline is not paired opposite Mammootty romantically in the movie but rather ‘with’ him in a role of equal importance.
Bech says she is loving every minute of her time at the set of the movie and over the past few weeks, has also grown to love the culture and cuisine of Kerala.
Ms. Bech, we welcome you to God’s Own Country…
