Jayaram bags Best Actor – finally!

Well it’s about time is all one can say! Actor Jayaram, who was twice shortlisted – at the national and state awards – but lost towards the end in the Best Actor category this year, has finally been granted his moment of glory at the Vayalar Film Awards. The platform of course, being his performances in Swapaanam and Nadan (Best Film).

The actor brought his real life skill and passion for playing the chenda (percussion instrument) on to the big screen in Swapaanam. As a reason for not granting him Best Actor at the State Awards, one of the judges in the prestigious panel, Surya Krishnamurthy, had told the media that they found Jayaram’s performance overly “dramatic” and “old fashioned”. Guess the VFA panel thought differently… ;)

Director Shyamaprasad won Best director for his movie Artist.
In any case, it’s been a long time coming and well deserved – Hearty congrats to Jayaram!
