Arjun Kapoor’s personal sentiment with ’2 States’
Not many know that actor Arjun Kapoor, who is set to appear as the male lead in ’2 States’, a direct adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s book, has a personal sentiment attached to the novel. The book happens to be one of his late mother Mona Shourie Kapoor’s many reads and is still intact in her bookshelf. Arjun had carefully preserved the novel in memory of his moving mom.
Mona Shourie Kapoor had an unfortunate demise on March 25th, 2012, while battling with cancer. This was just before Arjun’s debut Ishaqzaade, about to hit the theaters. Mona’s loss has been Arjun’s greatest personal tragedies, especially after his father Boney Kapoor split with his mother over his alleged affair with Sridevi. The couple got married in the midst of waging controversies, when Sri was pregnant with Boney’s first child, Jhanvi. Though Boney Kapoor moved on, Mona Kapoor retained her great dignity by staying back with her in-laws and raising her children. All the more reason why the film fraternity upholds Mona’s values.
Arjun, who will now be returning to Mumbai for Mona’s second anniversary from Agra has his fingers crossed over the film 2 States. He plays an interesting role of a North Indian Protagonist, just as described in the book by Bhagat. Interestingly, Late Mona had earlier expressed that she would like to see her son portray a romantic comedy, that is slated to come true.
The film stars Alia Bhatt in the female lead. Alia, who captivated the audience with her strong performance in Highway, will also play an interesting role of that of a South Indian girl falling for Arjun. The film is directed by Abhishek Varman.
