Five More Cases Against Neram Producer!
Five more cases of cheating have been charged, in addition to
the existing one, against the producer of hit bilingual movie Neram
(2013), Vishwanath a.k.a Koral Vishwanathan. The Tirupur based textile
entrepreneur who has a company named Koral which manufactures T Shirts
and innerwear, is also one of the directors of Winner Bulls Films, a
film production company through which he is reported to have cheated
multiple people out of lakhs of rupees.
He was arrested on Sunday night by the Aluva police and was remanded in to judicial custody on the same night due to the mounting pressure on the case. The first case was charged by Jaison Varkey of Perumbavoor, who accused Vishwanathan of cheating him out of Rs. 10.5 lakhs, which he took under the pretext of investing in the movie company, and was to return it with huge interest on the principal amount. This happened in 2011. The other directors of the company were Vishwanathan’s son in law and daughter, Abhilash and Anitha, who are both implicated in the scam.
In fact, Abhilash was arrested in January for the same kind of scam and is absconding since jumping bail. It was he who introduced the would-be victims to his father in law.
The shocking turn of events, however, was that after news spread of Vishwanath’s arrest, many more people came forward with similar accusations against him. Almost 30 complaints were lodged in Aluva alone but only five of them could be verified by the police with the right documentation. The five new plaintiffs in the case are Biju Charley, Kos Mathew, Nishanth Joseph, Varghese Raphael and Rojan Joy who gave money in the amounts of tens of lakhs to the conniving businessman.
Police have also confirmed that new cases have been filed against the fraudster in Palakkad, Perumbavoor and Vadakkanchery.
Neram was made with a budget of Rs. 1.5 crores but proved to be a huge hit and made over 5 crores at the box office. Vishwanathan has also produced a Tamil movie named Puthumukangal Thevai.
