Mammootty, M T, Hariharan Movie in the Works!
There are many talented artists who work exceptionally well
together in Malayalam cinema, and are known for producing some gems when
they team up and put their combined genius to entertain the fans. We
can all recall fondly and do express admiration for both onscreen and
off screen teams like Priyadarshan – Mohanlal or TV Chandran or Adoor
Gopalakrishnan and Mammootty and many, many more in the more than half a
century old history of our small regional industry.
But very few would oppose the statement or ‘tested and proven’ claim that the teaming up of celebrated author M T Vasudevan Nair, director Hariharan and Megastar Mammootty means something momentous is in the works and another milestone in Mollywood is on its way! And it’s happening again!
That’s right fans, the trio are back together again working on a yet to be revealed mysterious project!
Now, here’s a little trip down memory lane…
The first time the trio pooled their talent, there came a classic and iconic movie which gained Mammootty a national Best Actor award – Oru Vadakkan Veera Gatha. The movie changed the landscape of the industry forever and took its rightful place in the pantheon of greats and in our hearts. Lines from the movie are still quoted in various scenarios – some jokingly and some with other clever agendas – but always with reverence.
The next time the team decided to come together again we had another historical epic, both in scale and in terms of storytelling – Pazhassi Raja. The moving and legendary tale of the King who fought the British East India Company in a time before there was a nation or a national spirit and became, in essence, one of the first freedom fighters and a martyr to the cause had fans across the state rushing to the theatres and introduced a chapter of our near forgotten history to an entirely new generation. The long production process and the massive budget behind it proved to be worth it in the end.
Recently, in a function on TV, Mammootty thanked M T Vasudevan Nair for his work and humbly gave up all his recognition to the nationally treasured author in a moving gesture of respect. The Megastar also said that he grew up reading the literary master’s books and it helped him gain the skill and perspective required to mold himself in to the different characters he plays.
So, another dream project from the dream team means Malayalis everywhere have something amazing to look forward to in near future – another gem chiselled out by the legends themselves to be showcased, for our eager eyes and thrilled hearts, on the big screen.
One can hardly wait…
