Actress Jyothika who had phenomenal success as a leading lady in
Kollywood and later bid adieu to acting following her marriage to actor
Surya, in order to focus on her family, is making a comeback to Tamil
cinema and that too in a leading role!
Yes, the talented and beautiful mother of two is reportedly in talks with director Pandiraj about an upcoming project. Little else is known about the proposed movie at this point. Her family, of course, supports her decision to return to the industry and gave her their blessing.
Jyothika left the movie world in 2007 when she was at the peak of her success. The actress, with her unique mix of looks and genuine acting talent, had created a loyal fan following and a brand value to her name. She had starred with all the leading stars in Kollywood in hit flicks – including Rajnikanth in Chandramukhi (which won her major critical acclaim), Vijay in Khushi and Thirumalai and hubby Surya in Kakka Kakka and Sillunnu Oru Kaadhal. Her sister Nagma had been a major star in the south during the 90s as well.
Jyothika had also done work in Bollywood in Doli Sajake Rakhna and made her last onscreen appearance in the Malayalam movie Seetha Kalyanam in 2009.
It is commendable that actresses like Jyothika see it fit to return to the industry and pursue the craft that they love whilst being a capable caretaker of her family as well. Too often many young starlets find the choice difficult and end up having to choose one or the other.
