Drishyam Matches Titanic’s Record in UAE!

Drishyam, directed by Jeethu Joseph and starring Mohanlal, which came out in December, 2013 is still running successfully in the United Arab Emirates – in fact it is the first movie after Titanic to cross the 100 day mark in the country!

The manager of the El Dorado theatre, Ebrahim Thottassery, proclaimed this as the first Indian movie, especially a south Indian one, to generate this kind of interest. The movie is still being screened there for noon shows.
“Even Tamil, Kannada and Telugu audiences are enjoying the movie,“ he added, speaking with appreciation for the movie which released there on January 2nd.

This is yet another feather in the cap of the cast and crew of the movie, which has become one of the most – if not the most – successful films in the history of Malayalam cinema.
The brilliantly written, thrilling and cleverly executed storyline is about a man named Georgekutty who when confronted with a dangerous crime his family has committed through no fault of their own, comes up with an elaborate plan to get them through it without getting caught. The elegant plot and colourfully etched out, well rounded characters add to the nail biting suspense and drama of the movie. Although all the actors did justice to their roles, Kalabhavan Shajon’s performance as the villainous policeman was truly memorable. Indelible and captivating scenes created by creative camera work and exceptional editing took care of the rest and made the movie the success it is today.
With Drishyam’s international success and the glory of national awards being bestowed upon other Malayali cine artists like Suraj Venjaaramoodu and movies like North 24 Kaatham, the year is going very well indeed for Mollywood.
