Jai Ho flop show analysis
Salman Khan’s latest offering seems to be suffering at the Box-Office. The movie has failed to keep the cash registers ringing unlike Ek Tha Tiger, Bodyguard and the Dabanng series. In a recent public event, Salman himself expressed that he is confused to see such a weak response. We analyzed and here is the list of what went wrong with Jai Ho.
Lack of promotion
The promotion activity kicked off too late! They could not generate enough hype for the movie, and the effect showed heavily in the morning shows at the cinema halls on the first day. By evening, the unanimous bad talk about the movie had already spread.
Sterile sound track
Sajid-Wajid tunes lately have become boringly repetitive. There was not a single hit number from this movie. The best of the worst was ‘Baaki Sab First Class Hai’, which itself was mediocre. The fans didn’t know what song to dance for, in the Jai Ho single screens.
Sallu Bhai’s picture and No spice?
An item number from Kareena or Malaika or atleast a hot number like Mashallah with heroine has become a tradition in Bhai’s recent movies. Jai Ho didn’t have that. In other words, not enough motivation for the single screens audience to come and enjoy. The dearth of ‘Zandu Balm’ and ‘Fevicol’ was surely felt.
Lackluster Leading lady
Daisy Shah played Salman Khan’s love interest in the movie. Her debut had zero buzz! Being a choreographer, she did exhibit some appreciable dancing skills in the movie, but Bhai’s heroine ought to excel in glamour (there is no scope for performance anyway for the 48 yr hunk’s leading ladies). Her masculine figure kept the junta far away from the theatres.
Masala with Message
The Jai Ho team tried a well-intentioned film, but not compromising on the regular masala ingredients of fights and romance. In the process of balancing the message and masala, it eventually ended up being an inedible dish for the audience.
All in all, though Jai Ho might just touch 100 cr mark, the response when compared to Salman Khan’s movies in the past 4 years is very discouraging. Is Bhai slowly re-entering to the ‘Garv’ , ‘Yeh Hai Jalwa’, ‘Veer’ zone again? His next project ‘Kick’ is going to be an acid-test for sure.
