S S Rajamouli – the sensation of Tollywood
S.S. Rajamouli who is considered as a sensation and successful
film maker rather than director is currently rated as top most film
maker in Indian movie industry. Every actor, producer and artist is
waiting in queue to work with him in order to come into limelight. All
of his heroes are considered to be treated as Demi Gods after working
with him. Rajamouli takes presentation of main characters to the
pinnacle and audience gets excited watching it on the screen. The forty
year old directed only nine movies in his 12 year career, all of nine
movies have turned to be huge blockbusters this is not only his track
record but also industry record. In his nine movies Rajamouli directed
some path breaking movies; movies which took Telugu cinema to next
level. Let’s have a look at the path breaking movies
(1) Sye (2004)
Making audience sit throughout a movie is a tough task; Rajamouli has succeeded this task in all his movies. Sye is a youthful movie. The movie starring Genelia and Nitin was considered a path breaking movie because of its plot chosen. Rugby is a game usually played in North America and Europe. Majority of the audience are not aware of the game and rules used in it. Directing a movie using Rugby as the main point and using the game to suit the nativity of Telugu audience and finally coming up with a successful film can only be possible by Rajamouli.
(2) Vikramarkudu (2006)
Vikramarkudu was the only South Indian movie to be remade into 5 languages; Tamil, Kannada, Hindi, Bengali and Bangladeshi Bengali. Rajamouli should be applauded for showcasing Ravi Teja in a serious role. This is the first dual role movie of Ravi Teja, where one character he played a thief and other a police. Anushka’s glamour was other attraction of the movie. The movie was made with a budget of 10 crore and collected around 60 crores making it one of the biggest hits in Ravi Teja Career. The mannerism “Chinta Ta Chita Chita” went viral and still popular in Andhra.
(3) Yamadonga (2007)
Though many movies have come in this genre Yama Donga occupies the top position in the list. The reason being the grandeur of the movie and hard work of the team, Rajamouli makes sure that his team gets the recognition and popularity. Actor NTR lost weight and looked smart and suited the role of Yama and made audience feel that no one can replace him in that character.
Music by M.M. Keervani, camerawork by Senthil Kumar, scenes between NTR and Mohan Babu were the highlights of the movie. The movie was made on budget of 26 crore and made around 42 crores at the box office for 150 days run. The graphics and sets played a crucial role in the success of the movie.
(4) Magadheera (2009)
In the year 2009 the whole Telugu industry talked about only one movie Magadheera. It is the first industry hit in the history of Telugu movie industry. The movie was made on budget of 42 crore and collected 73.1 crore. Ram Charan’s and Kajal’s popularity has gone to peaks after the release of the movie. Megastar Chiranjeevi was seen in a guest role in the movie. Graphics and VFX were just amazing and the 100 fight episode is still the leading action episode in Telugu movies. Magadheera swept all the awards and also two national awards to Siva Shankar for best choreography and Kamal Kannan for best special effects. Rajamouli had lots of pressure before the release and should be appreciated for directing a movie which is still spoken in Indian film industry.
(5) Eega (2012)
With Eega, Rajamouli became famous internationally. The whole Bollywood went shocked, surprised and jealous on Rajamouli. With this movie every actor in India wants to work with Rajamouli. Any director would like to work with stars but Rajamouli is different he wants to goes with what script requires. Making a movie with fly as hero and making audience accept is a tough task for the maker. Eega starring Nani, Samantha and Sudeep was dubbed into Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi was received well and got good profits to the makers.
