Pandavulu Pandavulu Thummeda Review

When certain names are present in the cast of the movie, it’s common that before you step into the hall, the anticipation of something horrifying in the next 2 hours might even send chills down the spine. But, ‘Pandavulu Pandavulu Thummeda’ surprises you pleasantly, that you might feel refreshed and a tad more joyful when you come out of the hall.
Naidu (Mohan Babu) is a tourist guide in Bangkok living with his three sons (Manoj, Varun Sandesh and Tanish).  His old love Raveena Tandon, lives in Bangkok too with her sons (Vishnu and Vennela Kishore), running a boat business along the beach. An incident in a pub generates a rivalry between the two groups. Honey (Hansika) , is the love-interest of Vishnu and tries to unite the two groups into a single family and succeeds. Honey is abducted by some unknown henchmen. The whole ensemble’s mission now is to rescue Honey which forms the rest of the story.

The first half of the movie is a free-make of Golmaal-3, replicating almost everything from the original.  The second half is where the movie gets original and much more entertaining. Srivas has tried to do a modern Narthanasaala, and was quite successful in bringing the house down with ample comedy. Except a couple of ridiculous scenes, the rest were well-written with humor that worked. Especially, the insertion of old songs from Mohan Babu’s old movies was a good idea.  The actor, without whom this movie would have been an avoidable fare, is Manoj. Though he gets a shared screen time, to accommodate other actors, he made his presence felt and very effectively. A major asset to the film indeed!
Cinematography was decent, and so was editing. Costumes designed for Vishnu were awful. The soundtrack was poor except the ‘Choose Nene’ track picturized on Manoj-Praneetha. The philosophical monologues of Mohan Babu get on to your nerves sometimes.  However, all the flaws were overshadowed by good pace and entertaining writing. Screenplay by the Kona-Gopi-BVS trio made sure there are hardly any sloppy portions.
‘Pandavulu Pandavulu Thummeda’ is a paisa-vasool popcorn entertainer that will make chuckle, giggle, laugh and even hoot at some hilarious scenes.
